The Cervantes Institute (IC) is a Spanish public body, created on March 21, 1991 by the Government of Spain.

Its two main objectives are the promotion and teaching of the Spanish language, and the dissemination of the culture of Spain and Latin America. The Cervantes Institute takes its name from the writer Miguel de Cervantes.
